EXAMPLE: Hello! We use positive and negative numbers when we balance our checkbooks.I think that cashiers may use positive and negative numbers more often than others may.
Fractions…When will I use them?
One of the most common household uses of fractions is in food preparation.
Have you ever needed to make more of a certain food item? Explain how you might change the fractions in cooking when you double or triple or make 1/2 or 1/4 of a recipe.
Please share your favorite recipes while learning more about fractions!
Please give other examples of when you use fractions and why they are important.EXAMPLE: Hello! I usually double my meatloaf recipe now. Using just the regular recipe just does not seem to hold us anymore. The recipe calls for 1 cup of breadcrumbs, 1 pound of meat, ¼ teaspoon of pepper, etc. I just double it to 2 cups of breadcrumbs, 2 pounds of meat, and ½ teaspoon of pepper.
