The first step in this process is to understand the arguments or ideas contained in the theory. The second step is to re-read your chosen play in light of those theories and to see how a reading through a particular paradigm affects your understanding of the play.
Once you have understood the theory, the first question to ask is: Does this theory apply to this text (or this character, or this plot-structure)?
The next questions to ask are: What happens to the text (or character or plot-structure) when I look at it through this framework? What does an analysis look like when I view the play from an Aristotelian or Steinerean or Nietzschean perspective?
